Insync Health Screening/Health Surveillance Programmes
Effective Health Surveillance programmes will monitor the effectiveness of a company’s risk control measures and also help identify those individuals who may be at greater risk because of pre-existing conditions or those who may be developing signs of work related disorders such as Noise Induced Hearing Loss or Occupational Asthma. Insync can carry out all your health surveillance requirements as well as undertaking a review of current health surveillance frequencies to ensure that they reflect current company risk assessments thus ensuring you are not undertaking unnecessary surveillance.
- Audiometry can help employers meet their duties under The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. This regulation requires employers to provide employees with appropriate health surveillance in relation to the risks to health and safety identified by risk assessment. Occupational audiometry is a screening technique used to detect early damage to hearing resulting from exposure to noise at work. Insync can undertake on site audiometry or individual appointments at our clinic. Individual statements of fitness will be provided for all employees and a summary report provided for the company to assist in assessing the effectiveness of its control measures.
- Spirometry assessments of lung function can help employers meet the requirements of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations requires pre employment and periodic health surveillance to be carried out on all employees whose work brings them into contact with respiratory sensitisers and irritants. Insync can carry out a range of spirometry programmes according to risk assessment. A report will be produced following any programme providing the organisation with a statement of fitness to work for each employee and an overview of results which can be used to assist the company in assessing the effectiveness of its control measures.
- Skin Surveillance can help employers meet the requirements of the Control of Substances hazardous to health (COSHH) Repeated exposure to certain substances or skin irritation can lead to dermatitis. If the signs are detected early enough and corrective action is taken then the problem can be reduced or cured completely. However, if left untreated then the dermatitis can become irreversible and chronic and then exposure to even a small amount of the problem substance can trigger a skin reaction.
- Night Workers Health Assessments. The Working Time Directive recommends that an employer offers all employees working nights a pre-employment and regular health assessment. Insync will assess employee’s health and suitably to work nights by firstly undertaking a paper based assessment. We will review a questionnaire completed by the individual and will evaluate whether there is a history of certain medical conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, mental illness and sleep disorders. Employees identified to be “at risk” will be referred for a face to face appointment.
- Forklift Truck Medical Screening - many employees driving Forklift Trucks will require Occupational Health FLT Medical Assessments; this will ensure medical compliance with the Workplace Transport Safety Regulations.
- Hand Arm Vibration Screening now known as HAVS but still commonly referred to as Vibration White Finger. Employees who work with vibrating tools including power tools, will require regular HAVS screening under the COSHH Regulations. All our OH Practitioners have the updated training in HAVS as required under new legislation which became law in July 2005.
- Pregnant Woman and Breast Feeding Mothers will require specific Workplace Risk Assessments under the New and Expectant Mothers at Work Regulations.
